FBC Macon

Nurture. Love. Serve. ALL.

We’re proud of our Baptist history and heritage, but we’re also proud of our diversity. At First Baptist you will find a group of people coming from a variety of different church backgrounds and denominations who have found a home at the “top of Poplar.” And while our congregation comes from all over middle Georgia, we are a downtown church and see it is our mission to be the presence of Christ to our InTown and College Hill communities here in Macon.

FBCX U

Sunday, October 19, 12:15-2 p.m.

Let’s capture that spirit of learning in the air this fall!  FBCX University is back in session for one day only!  Come and enjoy free lunch, thought-provoking topics, lively discussions, and fun with friends.  And the best part of all?  Homework is optional!

At the conclusion of our morning worship service, please join us for a light lunch, followed by an afternoon of à la carte workshops.  Members and guests of all ages are encouraged to participate!

FBCX 101 - Scott Dickison

This workshop will provide an introduction to the church for new members and those considering membership.

Emotional Care at the End-of-Life -- Kerri Thompson

Facing a life-limiting illness brings significant adjustments for an individual as well as within the family.  Uncertainty about the future makes planning difficult, and the many unknowns can cause fear and anxiety.  Sometimes, all the changes are hard to talk about.  Even so, there is still room for hope and joy!  In this session, we will discuss the changes that such an illness brings and how to care for oneself in the midst of it.

Coupling, from the Teen Years to the Tired Years -- Bruce Conn

Have you ever considered how our early development affects our subsequent relationships?  Come to this workshop to learn more about integrating Erik Erikson's developmental model with the tasks of growing closer through the life cycle.

A Hymnal:  What's In It? -- Stanley Roberts

This workshop will look at the various components of a hymn, how hymnals are compiled, what is common or unique to various hymns, and the union of tunes & texts.

Jesus Wants YOU for FBCX Missions Work! -- Sharon Bailey & Dan Riley

Support of missions by giving our prayers, hours, and dollars is a major commitment of the FBCX family of faith.  How is our missions money spent?  Who are our missions partners?  What are their needs as they serve?  What are opportunities to really get involved with personal service?  In this workshop, you will learn of all the exciting missions projects going on and coming up!

Hands-On Learning Sessions for Children

Childcare will be provided, preschoolers will have a time of story and play, and kids grades 1-5 will have a time of "Godly Play" led by Mrs. Julie.  Godly Play teaches a Bible story or theme and involves several stations with multi-sensory activities for children to choose.  Sign up with Mrs. Julie to participate in activities for preschoolers or children orif you need childcare for infants and toddlers.
