Hurricane Matthew Response
Hurricane Matthew Relief Efforts
Whether we know someone living in the path of Hurricane Matthew or simply watched its horrors on TV, we have all been affected by this natural disaster. There are several ways you can help with the relief and recovery efforts.
From Morningstar Children and Family Services, a missions partner of CBF of GA:
Our child and adolescent residents are safe inland. However our Brunswick campus has many trees down and water intrusion in our Resident Cottages. Damage surveys are ongoing. As of 1:30 p.m. Saturday power is still out. We'd like to return our kids to their familiar homes as quickly as possible.
How can you help? Please bring chain saws, pick-up trucks, trailers to move debris, safety gear, (gloves, boots, eye protection), rakes and similar tools. General clean up in the buildings (mopping, wiping surfaces, washing linens etc.) may also be needed.
If you are interested in helping at Morningstar, please contact Jody at firstname.lastname@example.org.
From the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship:
The Cooperative Baptist Fellowship is planning its response to Hurricane Matthew in Haiti, Cuba, the Bahamas and the United States and is requesting donations to support its international and domestic disaster relief efforts. CBF Global Missions has reported that field personnel Jenny Jenkins, who serves in Grand Goâve, Haiti, is safe, after spending 36 hours waiting out the storm at her house and mission center, where the roof flooded and caused water damage to the rooms and beds. Jenkins has worked in Haiti since 2008 and was instrumental in CBF's relief efforts in the aftermath of the deadly 2010 earthquake. Donations to support CBF's disaster response efforts to Hurricane Matthew may be made online here or by mailing a check payable to "CBF" with Acct. 17004 in the memo line to:
Cooperative Baptist Fellowship
P.O. Box 102972
Atlanta, GA 30368-2972
Alternately, you may send monetary donations to FBCX with “Hurricane Matthew Relief” in the memo line of your check and we’ll ensure that the funds are directed to CBF as they continue to respond.
