FBC Macon

Nurture. Love. Serve. ALL.

We’re proud of our Baptist history and heritage, but we’re also proud of our diversity. At First Baptist you will find a group of people coming from a variety of different church backgrounds and denominations who have found a home at the “top of Poplar.” And while our congregation comes from all over middle Georgia, we are a downtown church and see it is our mission to be the presence of Christ to our InTown and College Hill communities here in Macon.

Adult Study for Wednesdays

Starting this Wednesday and running for the next 5 weeks until Ash Wednesday, our Wednesday evening adult program will focus on Brian McLaren’s new book: The Great Spiritual Migration: How the World’s Largest Religion is Seeking a Better Way to Be Christian.

Copies of the book will be available to purchase in the church office for $10, or are available on Amazon or probably even Barnes and Noble (and as usual, reading the book is not necessary to participate in the program, but will likely enhance it!)

McLaren’s thesis is simple: Christianity is stuck and we need to get moving again. The Bible is a story of God inviting people to follow. The early Christians called themselves The Way. And yet somewhere along the way, Christianity became more about staying put and preserving an institution as opposed to following in the way of Christ. Join us as we discuss McLaren’s book and envision a way forward in this new year and beyond.
