At First Baptist you will find a group of people coming from a variety of different church backgrounds and denominations who have found a home at the “top of Poplar.” And while our congregation comes from all over middle Georgia, we are a downtown church and see it is our mission to be the presence of Christ to our InTown and College Hill communities here in Macon.

FBC(s) Macon Day at Mercer Basketball, February 3

As part of our Baptist Heritage weekend celebration, we, along with FBC, New Street, will have FBC Macon day as the Mercer Bears take on the Wofford Terriers in basketball on Saturday, February 3Tickets are FREE but please contact the church office to reserve your seats by Monday, January 29. Tickets are good for the Women’s Game at 2:00 p.m. AND the Men’s game, which should start around 4:30 p.m.

Come watch the Bears and have a great time with our church and our friends at FBC New Street!

jubilate! Youth Choir Retreat

Friday- Sunday, January 12-14

The choir will present a concert at FBC Avondale Estates on Sunday, January 14, 3 p.m.  All are welcome!

Youth who are interested in attending the 25th annual jubilate! choir retreat should contact Stanley Roberts or Anne Armstrong.


Sunday Night Activities for All Ages Begin September 3

For the fall months (Sept. –Dec.), children, youth and adult programming is going to change from Wednesday nights to Sunday nights, with the exception of Chancel Choir rehearsal.  A Wednesday lunchtime adult Bible study will be added, giving adults the possibility for two different Bible study times during the week.   A schedule for the change is as follows:

Sundays, Weekly, beginning September 3:
Childcare available 4:45-7:15
5:00-5:45 – Youth and Children’s Choirs
 Adult Fellowship/ committee meetings
5:00-7:45  -- Language Ministry classes
5:45- 6:30 – Supper for all; children’s celebrations begin at 6:15
6:30-7:15– Missions for Children; Youth Bible Study/Missions and Adult Program (quarterly church conference as needed)

Wednesdays, Weekly:
11:30 a.m.   Wednesday lunch and Bible study for adults
Childcare available 6:00-7:30, and from 5:00-6:00 for committee meetings by request
5:00-6:15 p.m.  -- Church open for committee meetings
6:15-7:30-- Chancel Choir Rehearsal

As the fall semester concludes, we will evaluate this model and make a decision to continue, to return to our current Wednesday schedule, or to modify the current schedule in another way.  Thanks for your patience and flexibility as we try something new!
