We’re thrilled to welcome Suzii Paynter as our guest preacher this Sunday. Suzii is the Executive Coordinator of the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship, our primary missions and identity partner. Prior to joining CBF in March 2013, Paynter served in executive management of the Baptist General Convention of Texas (BGCT) as the director of the Texas Baptist Christian Life Commission and as director of the Advocacy Care Center.
Over the past decade, Paynter has gained a national reputation for her advocacy on important ethical issues such as religious liberty, hunger and poverty, human trafficking, immigration reform and the environment. She has been recognized by numerous national religious and secular organizations such as the Sierra Club, American Association of Retired Persons and Samaritan Counseling Centers.
A nationally recognized faith leader and ordained deacon and Sunday school teacher of more than 40 years, Paynter has held positions of leadership in Baptist churches in Texas, Kentucky and Mississippi.
Following worship on Sunday, December 17, Jody Long announced he will be leaving his position of Minister of Youth and Missions here at First Baptist to accept a call to be the Executive Coordinator of the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship of Georgia. His last Sunday with us will be January 14. He will begin with CBFGA on February 1.
We will honor Jody’s service to our church and celebrate with him and his family in this exciting opportunity at a lunch following worship on February 4. This was already scheduled to be our Baptist Heritage Sunday (formerly Founders’ Day, which following a recommendation from our Baptist Identity Task Force will be moved to the fall), and Suzii Paynter, Executive
Coordinator of CBF Global, will be our guest preacher. What a blessing for her to be here to help us celebrate Jody.
Bring a covered dish side or dessert to contribute to the potluck-style lunch.
As part of our Baptist Heritage weekend celebration, we, along with FBC, New Street, will have FBC Macon day as the Mercer Bears take on the Wofford Terriers in basketball on Saturday, February 3. Tickets are good for the Women’s Game at 2:00 p.m. AND the Men’s game, which should start around 4:30 p.m.

Join us before Sunday School for a churchwide breakfast as we kick off the Advent season!
The Circle of Hope Christmas Shop for Crisis Closet families will be open again this year on December 18. For seven years now, we’ve provided toys for our Crisis Closet patrons to purchase at 10-15% of the cost in stores. Instead of handouts, our shoppers know the dignity of providing for their children with their own dollars.
We need your help! Every year, our shop sells out, so we need new toys.
Please, if you can, donate one or more toys by Sunday, December 17, or make a donation and we’ll shop for you. Just write a check to the church with CoH Toy Shop on the memo line, and we’ll take care of it. And if you like wrapping presents, come help us while the shop is open!
See Sande Day, Sharon Bailey, Dee Bratcher, or Jody Long if you have questions.
Sunday, December 10, 5 p.m.
Our children's choirs will present their Christmas program in the sanctuary. Following the program, join us for refreshments in the Fellowship Hall. Bring a finger food to share!

Join us for our third annual Thanksgiving potluck with our friends and neighbors from the First Baptist Church on New Street. We will gather at 5:00 p.m. in their Fellowship Hall, accessible through the doors at ground level on New Street.
Please bring a side or dessert to share. We will hear updates on some of our recent work at Ingram Pye Elementary School and the renovations of High Street Park, sing and pray together. But of course the main event will be the food and fellowship!
There will not be childcare, so parents are encouraged to bring children to eat with us in the Fellowship Hall.
Wednesday, December 20, 6 p.m.
Meet in the Fellowship Hall before dividing into groups to go caroling to our homebound members and nursing homes. Join us!
