Join Our Family in a Local, Organic Farm Share
Last spring’s FBCX Ethics Series motivated our family to join a local community-supported agriculture (CSA) project run by Babe and Sage Farm. Husband and wife team Bobby Jones and Chelsea Losh grow organic produce and bake fresh bread year round on their farm over in Gordon, and members get a share of the bounty each week. Babe and Sage has also partnered with other local organic farmers to offer eggs, meat, and jam. Because Bobby and Chelsea want to support our church family’s effort to eat in a more sustainable, Earth-conscious way, they have added FBCX as a weekly drop-off spot, so we can pick up our fresh produce right at the church door on our way to Bible study each Wednesday night. We can even customize our weekly produce selections through their Web site. Eating healthy, locally grown food couldn’t get any easier!
What’s more, being a farm share member is an invaluable learning opportunity. Over the last year, our family has practiced building our menu around what’s in season. Our boys (ages 9 & 7) have become more willing to try new veggies because they know “Farmer Bobby” grew them. We have seen first-hand how rewarding making an investment in locally grown food can be. We feel very lucky Babe & Sage Farm is part of our community!
Plans for the upcoming season are already underway. If you’re interested in trying a spring/summer Farm Share, be sure to visit the Babe & Sage Web site soon to learn more about what will be in season and how to sign up. We’d also be glad to answer any questions you have.
