MEMBERSHIP AT FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH
First Baptist Church is a family of faith. It is a family of pilgrims who look to Jesus Christ as the light of life. We would welcome you as our brother or sister in the journey.
One can join First Baptist Church in one of the following ways:
1. Profession of faith and baptism
This means one is ready to confess Jesus as Lord and Savior and follow him in the way of discipleship. Baptists signify such a confession through baptism by immersion.
2. Transfer of Letter
This means one wishes to transfer his or her church membership from a sister Baptist church.
3. Statement of Christian Experience and Baptism
This means one has professed faith in Christ as Lord and Savior and experienced believer’s baptism but no church letter is available.
This means one has been baptized and confirmed in a sister Christian communion and now wishes to join the First Baptist family. The term “Watchcare” originally referred to college students in affiliating with First Baptist while away from home. In May of 2007, the church extended the term to include fellow Christians who wish to join First Baptist without being re-baptized. Watchcare membership is full membership.
Generally, one’s desire to unite with the church is made public during the final hymn of a service of worship. The new member is presented to the church at that time.

Any and all persons considering membership in First Baptist Church of Christ are encouraged to speak with the pastor or one of the other ministers. We welcome the opportunity to explore how we can grow together in the service of our Lord.
